RED LEAD URNA wheel thrown 9" cylinder with fluid, well defined throwing rings, widened early and necked-in to a small hole at the top. It was dipped into poisonous red lead glaze. Notice no one in their right mind would eat or drink from this. The urn was fired in a raku kiln, removed into a pile of sawdust, and covered with a garbage can lid. This produces the carbon rich reduction atmosphere that turns this particular glaze bright red (it turns a deep moss green in an oxidizing atmosphere), and hosed down with cold water to capture the vibrant color. Status: broken and disposed of in an environmentally protective manner. For MORE RAKU click here.
