This is the very first pot I threw on the wheel.

I had just watched a demonstration. I sat down, put a lump of the same slippery white clay on the wheelhead and did what I'd seen the instructor do. Guess I was just too ignorant to know my limitations. And nobody'd told me how unforgiving porcelain clay could be.

Ignorance is this. I got lucky with the clear glaze, slashes of iron stain, and the swirl of celadon around the lip that ran in the kiln.

Status: still in the potter's personal collection.
