Mojave Rattlesnake Pot

You live in the Southwest long enough you just got to use the local motifs.

This simple hand thrown, pot was just begging for a snake to curl itself around it. Since I had recently helped capture a sizable Mojave rattler for the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum outside of Tucson, I had the image etched in my brain. But that's another story.

I gave this pot to Earl Wettstein, who I worked for at the time. He looked at me and said, "What are you trying to tell me with this?" Some people, hey, Earl?

Anyway, not bad for a kid from Brooklyn.

Status: in the collection of Earl Wettstein.
